Summer Update

👤 🕔 July 14, 2014 Comments Off on Summer Update

Version 3.5 for iOS is coming along. The faster server interface has been implemented. Item Groups are in place. Remove Items now has a text field option for quicker count input. The list views have been updated for faster performance which will affect the overall performance of Prep & Pantry.  A new slide-out menu has been installed for the List view and the Cart view. This frees up some screen real estate to start adding new list views such as Item Groups and cart views such as Categories, Tags, and coming soon, Aisles.

Right now I am updating the look and layout of Prep & Pantry with entire sections of code being re-written, again, helping to increase the responsiveness of the app. As I do this I am also inserting the require code to allow Prep & Pantry to be multi-lingual.

Part of what is taking so long is that I need to maintain compatibility between Prep & Pantry Inventory and the upcoming Prep & Pantry Recipe Box app.  This requires that I go back and forth between the two apps during the development cycle.

With Recipe Box I am still tweaking it’s ability to fetch recipes from your favorite internet sites.  The framework for linking recipe ingredients to inventory items is up and running. Now it’s a matter of tweaking the functionality.

Winter update

It’s been a little while so I thought I would post a quick update. I have been busy putting together a big release for Prep & Pantry with an updated look and many new features!

In the next week or so there will be new interim versions released for both iOS and Android. iOS gets several bug fixes and both are laying the framework for several upcoming new features including Item Groups and better Price support.

A German version of Prep & Pantry for Android was released not too long ago with plans to do the same with the iOS versions.

I have also been working on the new Prep & Pantry companion app, Recipe Box. Add, import, and manage your recipes, while linking them to your inventory. I am targeting a May/June release.

If you have any features you would really like to see in a recipe app, now is a great time to let me know!

New iOS release, Android update

Apple has approved and release Prep & Pantry v3.4.0. This release fixes the crashing caused with the iOS 7.0.3 update. This release also updates the look of Prep & Pantry to the new iOS 7 standards. I really like how the colors and layout turned out, I hope you do too!

Last week there was an update to Android as well. This update allows tablets without a rear-facing camera to still use Prep & Pantry. There was also a new feature introduced. On iOS I call it !Zap. It is a quick way to add additional items to your inventory when you have identical items with only differing expiration and/or locations. Look for it when adding new or existing items. The new icon looks like several stacked boxes with a plus sign on top.

I am getting the next Android update ready which will introduce yet another new feature for Pro users only. This new feature will allow you to more directly manage the database with the ability to edit most every aspect of an item including the complete deletion of an item from your inventory. Simply named Manage Database, it will be found under the Settings tab. This should be out next week after some more testing.

Shhh, Prep & Pantry for Android is here

👤 🕔 October 8, 2013 Comments Off on Shhh, Prep & Pantry for Android is here

I am quietly announcing Prep & Pantry for Android is now available for download in the Google Play store. Why the quiet announcement? Well, not every feature is in place yet and there may be a bug or two hiding in the code, so I am releasing it as a beta. This is an opportunity for you early adopters to get android loaded up and try it out. If you like it, the in-app purchase to unlock unlimited items and syncing is half-off regular pricing. This is for a limited time only. I have only three or four features left to be added. Once they’re in the introductory sale price will be gone.

v3.03 has been submitted to Apple today with a couple of small bug fixes. iOS7 compatibility has been tested and assured. v3.03 corrects a small formatting flaw that shows up in iOS7, very minor.

Android! is oh, so close. I had to put a hold on android for a little bit to spend some time with iOS 7 but the android version is coming along nicely and is in private beta now. More testing and setting up the in-app purchase are all that remain.

A hold-up at Apple

👤 🕔 July 24, 2013 Comments Off on A hold-up at Apple

I know that a few of you are waiting on the 3.01 bugfix release. I  just wanted to let you know that 3.01 has been approved by Apple but because Apple was hacked last week, us developers are locked out for the time being. Once Apple opens the doors again I will approve the release of 3.01.

On a related note, I’ve been receiving reports of a Cart bug that is adding inflated quantities to the Cart List. If its happening to you it will be pretty obvious. Please bear with me a bit while I track this down.

Thanks!
